Right then, I was flicking through our news section, as one does, and I came across a post by Daniella, about the HTC Runnymede. As I’ve mentioned before, I tend not to write about something if someone else on the team has beat me to the story, but, y’see, I couldn’t help my self with this one.
No sirree, ‘cos the HTC Runnymede has a 4.7 inch screen, apparently. And you know what I’m like when it comes to phones with gargantuan screens. I go into a euphoric state, and start coming up with new names for the size classes, that’s what.
Yes, this really is the way I amuse myself, as sad as it sounds…
Anyway, down the bottom end, you’ve got “Piddly-class”, as typified by the Motorola Flipout. Moving up a tier from that, you’ve got “Hobbit-class”, which is where you’ll find phones like the HTC Wildfire S, around the 3-3.2 inch bracket. The next one up from that is “Beefy-class”, where you’ll find phones around the size of the HTC Desire S; they’re bigger than Hobbit-class phones (obviously), but they’re not as big as the real heavyweights in the industry.
No sirree, ‘cos we’re up to the two big classes, now. The first one, where you’ll find phones like the HTC Sensation, is “Godzilla-class”. And the biggest? Well, that’s “Galactus-class”, the exclusive realm of phones like the xpPhone, that I’ve blogged about a couple of times, in the past.
So, where does the HTC Runnymede fit? Weeeeeeeeell, it’s sort of right on the cusp of Godzilla and Galactus, innit? So, based on purely on the fact I can, I’m going to invent a whole new size class, just for the Runnymede; I’m going to call it “Mechagodzilla-class”.
So there we have it. Using nothing but my impeccable, infallibale logic, we now know that the HTC Runnymede is Mechagodzilla.
